2015 Nissan Quest vs 2015 Honda Odyssey

In a segment not generally applauded for their, well, “sexiness,” there have recently been several minivan entries that are every bit as interested in style as they are in substance. This has led to a renewed interest in the minivan segment, even by buyers who might traditionally be more interested in trucks or SUVs. Minivans have adopted many of the same powertrains that their SUV siblings employ, all while offering a greater degree of interior versatility than most traditional SUVs can match. Two such models--the 2015 Nissan Quest and the 2015 Honda Odyssey--are among the most popular, but how do they compare to one another?

Right off the bat, it’s important to note that the two models have near-identical powertrains--a 3.5-liter V6--with fuel-economy estimates that are also in-line with each other, a robust 27 highway mpg according to EPA estimates. However, this is where the similarities end. Despite the similar powertrain, the 2015 Nissan Quest soundly bests its Honda counterpart in terms of horsepower, an edge of 260 to 248. Additionally, with a clear edge in both passenger volume and in front legroom and headroom, the Quest also more comfortably accommodates its passengers as well, taking extra-special care of those doing the driving. Given these factors and its sticker price set more than $2,000 beneath the Honda Odyssey, the 2015 Nissan Quest distinguishes itself as the clear option for Houston-area drivers.
